Week 8 Update - Ms. Micha’s Explorers
Hello Parents & Families!
We started our day with an exciting game of Hungry Otters. This kids can’t get enough of this one. After several rounds we circled up for our Morning routine. We went around the circle sharing our Farm Names, how we were Feeling & what we felt Grateful for. It’s a nice way to ground into the day, connect with one another & feel acknowledged for our current experience.
We nestled under a blanket under a juniper for a story called, Big Tracks, Little Tracks by Millicent E. Selsam. We became Nature Detectives & solved some mysteries by connecting clues in the story. We then had our Farm Chore of feeding the hungry chickens. We collected 7 eggs or so & put them in a carton. After replenishing their food for fermentation, we set out for a big hike to put our Nature Detecting skills to the test!
We hiked down the dirt road, across the dry riverbed, through the tall grass to the opposite end of the farm. We found deer & raccoon tracks. We spotted armadillo markings in search for bugs. Tuning into our senses, we listened attentively to the sounds around us.
We played a game of Red Light, Green Light, while others stretched & learned some yoga poses, even meditating for some time. When we felt ready, we hiked back towards the classroom, passing the Explorers on the way & saying hello to our younger siblings.
After our lunch we enjoyed some crafting & free time. Kids set to finger knitting each other necklaces & bracelets, tying yarn to sticks & playing amongst the trees. We revisited the Carving Agreements & found some great sticks to carve.
Another marvelous adventure here on the Farm.
All the Best to you & we will see you soon.
~Miss Micha
