Week 8 Update - Ms. Micha’s Saturday Class
Hi Saturday Tribe!
We had such an awesome day together. We had our Circle in the morning & shared our Farm Names, how we were Feeling & what we were Grateful for. We laid down a blanket & read a story called Big Tracks, Little Tracks, by Millicent E. Selsam. We learned all about nature tracking, & even became Nature Detectives, solving the mysteries in the book by assessing the clues.
After snack, we observed the bones I brought, figuring out what part of the body they once belonged & learning their names. With baskets in tow, we set off for a tracking adventure! We found raccoon tracks & marveled at their cuteness. Raccoons on the farm are discouraged however, as they tend to get into things & threaten the safety of our chickens. Thank goodness for our trusty rooster who does a fantastic job of protecting our hens.
We hiked across the Farm, toward the vineyard. There we played a game of Red Light, Green Light. We then gathered some grape vines for a very special project. Once arriving back to the classroom, we fashioned beautiful wreathes & adorned them with yarn. They all came out so lovely. Some kids threw theirs like a frisbee, which opened up a discussion about homemade toys & games, & how things used to be made rather than purchased. So cool!
We then played a game of Hungry Otters, demanded to be sprayed with the Hoop House hose:) & enjoyed more hiking before closing for the day.
Thank you so much everyone & we will see you next time!
