Week 5 Update - Ms. Micha’s Explorers

Hello Parents & Families! 

Friday was such a wonderful weather day. Kids enjoyed free play & fairy house building in the morning. We then came together as a group for a short story, then our Circle. After our shares, we decided to go say hello to the bees. They were active outside their hive as it was a much warmer day. 

We completed our Farm Chore & fed the chickens & replenished their food. What an eager bunch! The Explorers then played a game of Noodle Knock before Snack. We then went into a carving tutorial. We learned about Carving Safety, using the Carving ABC’s.

We got right to carving soap with butter knives. This is a great way to get acquainted with the mannerisms & feel. We then played a seek & find game, looking for the painted butterfly I hid somewhere in the woods. The first person to find it won a balloon. The rest of the students got a balloon to share, & practice how they would organize how that would work. We then talked about the monarch’s  marvelous migration pattern. 

After Lunch we got set up for our Farm Activity, Wheat Heads! We made sweet little planters & decorated each side with faces/heads to which the ‘hair’ would grow from. We scooped in the soil, planted the seeds & gave a good watering. They came out awesome.
