Week 1 Update - Ms. Micha’s Explorers

Hi there Families! 

Today was such a great day to kick off our new season together~ & a chilly one at that! We greeted the chickens this morning, then filled a bucket of water for our extinguisher. We gathered around the fire pit, discussing our Class Agreements in order for safety & adequate flow. As we were doing this, we made tinder bundles out of juniper bark for our fire making. We all gave a big thumbs up to things like: 

Respect
Cleanliness
Commitment to Resolution
Hazard Awareness 
Staying with the group 

We then talked about our Fire Safety Agreements:

A~ Adult Supervision
B~ Barrier
C~ Climate
D~ Distance 
E~ Extinguisher
F~ Foreign Materials

We went around the circle sharing our Names, how we were feeling & what we were most looking forward to here on The Farm. After Snack we played a Bandana Ball Name Game. We then boiled water on the fire for some yummy tea, from right here on the farm. Lavender & Tulsi (Holy Basil). We read a story called Giving Thanks, by Chief Jake Swamp & reveled in our gratitude for all the things! 

After lunch we tidied up our classroom. We worked together & raked & raked. Our space looks amazing. Some kids then chose to work on a shelter building endeavor, while others created with their imagination~ building traps for animals. We had a chat about our composting system, & went to the bin for some hands on learning, depositing our leftovers then covering with hay.  

Overall it was a big new day for all of us. We made new friends & learned A Lot while having so much fun. Thank you all so much for being a part of all the Magic we’re creating here. Have a good one & we’ll see ya next week!
