NORA GROSS
Farm School Educator
Growing up in the suburbs of Dallas, Texas I didn't have a strong connection to nature, until I moved to Austin in 2018 and began to swim in the waters. I felt changed by it, and in the next coming years I developed a deep curiosity about nature, how food is produced and preserved, and ways to live more sustainably and in harmony with the land. This lead me to travel and work trade on different permaculture and regenerative farms, and to complete an internship at Earth Knack Survival School.
I attended the Savannah College of Art and Design and I love to create in many different mediums. I began working with kids teaching art classes in 2020, and I fell in love with the opportunity to encourage the creative nature in children to blossom. This passion translated beautifully to teaching ancestral skills to children at Natureversity Outdoor School where I cherished every moment spent playing in the woods, getting my hands in the dirt, learning new skills and asking great questions.
I believe in the value of learning and practicing ancestral skills to integrate them into our modern systems, and remember where we came from. I enjoy working with plants and making herbal medicines and remedies which help me to feel connected, and to develop a close relationship with the spirit of the natural world as it unfolds. I am also a sound healing practitioner, and have worked with hundreds of people one-on-one and in group settings, journeying with ancient tools. I currently live in the quiet hills of Driftwood where my partner and I steward an acre of land and are attempting to regenerate the soil and cultivate food crops.
