Week 7 Update - Miss Micha’s Builders
Hi there Parents & Families,
We had another great week here on The Farm. Friday started with a game of Hungry Hungry Seagulls, while Saturday’s was welcomed into the classroom by the sound of my cedar flute. Both classes had Morning Circle, where we shared our Farm Name, what we were Feeling & what we were Grateful for.
Friday’s class had a Farm Chore of feeling the chickens. They recalled what to do & did a great job. Saturday’s class explored the wood around our classroom for hideouts for our game. We played Look Up, Look Down to come to a single player that would be our starting wolf for a game of Wolves & Rabbits.
Friday’s class went over the agreements for Fire Safety. We then gathered Juniper bark for tinder making. I handed out ferro rods & we practiced how to use them. I offered wood shavings as well as saw dust (fairy dust) as this can be a magical element that can aid in catching a light. We practiced fire making for some time, using magnifiers & Choctaw. We made char cloth on the fire, another great aid to start fires with.
After Lunch, Saturday’s class had their Farm Chore of transplanting turnips from the Hoop House into the farm rows. They did awesome & seemed to really enjoy it! We then enjoyed a game of What Time Is It Mister Fox? We finished by learning how to use Sling Shots, aiming at cans I set up for them. Friday’s class exercised connecting with their body & inviting muscle memory by learning some basics in breakdancing from me as well as some yoga poses. We wrapped up our day with a game of Wolves & Rabbits.
Thanks so much everyone!
All the Best,
~Miss Micha
