Week 2 Update - Ms. Micha’s Explorers

Hello Everyone!

Your sweethearts had a fun & eventful day today. This morning, we started with a hike to the game field. There, we had our Morning Circle. We shared about how we were feeling & went over our agreements from last week. We then played a game of Fire In The Forest.

We hiked back to our classroom for Snack & talked all about compost. Then we took a Farm Tour! We observed the compost station, the chickens & rows of growing veggies. Since the freeze, the farm is looking spry again. We hiked to greet the bees. On our way, we learned fox feet, a stealth way to carefully & quietly move with awareness.

When we got back, we enjoyed our Farm Chore. We filled 5 gal buckets with Compost Tea. This is a liquid consisting of fish emulsion, kelp, molasses, water & air. We then scooped some into watering cans & dispersed it along the seedlings in row 3. We then built forts in what we now call, Magic Forest.

After Lunch, we made bird feeders from the sticks we gathered from the forest. We slathered them in sunflower butter, rolled them in birdseed, & hung them from a chosen tree. Can’t wait to see if they get nibbled on! We sounded the bird whistles I brought & played True or False bird facts.

We then hiked to the game field for one more game, Hungry Otter. Otters swam through the pond to sneak up on the fisherman’s stash of fish, trying not to get tapped by their pole (short pool noodles). We wrapped up with sharing our favorite parts of the day.
