Week 6 Update - Ms. Micha’s Saturday Class
Hey there folks!
What a Saturday! The weather was so diverse. Our tranquil morning we spent in the woodland around our classroom. Our shelter came undone, so the kids set to rebuild. I used a saw to trim some branches for a fun pathway to play in during games & free time. Students then took those branches to use to build the new shelter as well as stacking for fire burning.
We gathered for Morning Circle & Snack & shared about ourselves. Before we knew it, the temperature dropped & the wind started gusting. We walked the perimeter of our large boundary for a game of Wolves & Rabbits. The running helps keep us warm of course but some sought shelter inside the Hoop House. There we learned the Carving ABC’s for safety.
A~ Always ask permission
B~ Bubble (a circle drawn around the body for safety)
C~ Carve off & away of yourself
D~ Don’t get distracted
E~ End with everything away
T~ Tool not toy
We then got to soap carving with butter knives! They really liked this. Students who felt comfortable then found sticks to carve using a Morakniv fixed blade & even some French switches students brought from home for our carving class.
After Lunch we read stories & drew pictures inside & created our own games to run off the chill outside. It was both a cozy & wild day here on The Farm!
All the Best to you everyone & we’ll see you very soon.
